Interconnectable plastic bottle

Plastic PET beverage bottles are typically packaged and transported in cardboard-type trays and held together in bundles of 4, 8, 12 or 24 by cling wrap, which helps to distribute impact force during transit. The use of wrapping does however increase packaging cost.

Because the bottles are formed with a circular cross-section, vacant gaps exist between the bundled bottles that make the tray's footprint larger than necessary contributing to transport cost.

This plastic bottle shape is configured to allow attachment of several bottles together and form a compact bundle without the need for wrapping. The bottle has a square cross-section and is divided into three distinctive areas. The top and bottom portion contain dovetail-shaped extensions and matching recesses whereby two or more bottles can be snap-fitted together in a side-by-side formation.

The central region of the bottle comprises a narrow waist section that can be ergonomically held and gripped in the hand of the consumer. The bottle shape also permits a unique means to stack and display bottles during promotions in department stores.
